扶輪宗旨 OBJECT OF ROTARY


扶輪之宗旨在於鼓勵並培養以服務精神為可貴事業之基礎,尤其著重於鼓勵與培養:

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular. to encourage and foster:

第一:增廣相識,為擴展服務之機會。
First: The development acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

第二:在各種事業及專門職務中,提高道德之標準,認識一切有益於社會的業務之價值,及每一扶輪社員應尊重其本身之業務,藉以服務社會。
Second: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his occupation as an opportunity to serve society.

第三:每一社員能以服務精神應用於其個人事業及社會之生活。
Third: The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his personal, business and community life.

第四:透過結合具有服務精神之各種事業及專門職務人士,以世界性之聯誼,增進國際間之瞭解、親善與和平。
Fourth: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

 

 

四大考驗 THE FOUR-WAY TEST


從扶輪組織成立的初期,扶輪社員就關心並且鼓勵在專業上遵守崇高的道德標準。1932年扶輪社員赫柏.泰勒Herbert J. Taylor(他後來擔任1954-55年度國際扶輪社長)受聘負責挽救一家瀕臨破產的公司時,創訂了四大考驗。這24個英文字的考驗成為員工在事業及專業生活上凡是與銷售、產品、廣告及所有與生意往來及顧客有關的指南,使公司得以扭轉乾坤生存下來,證實此一簡單的哲學確實有效。1943年扶輪採用四大考驗,為全世界的扶輪社員們在事業及專業生活上所遵行。四大考驗目前已經被翻譯成100多種語言。

我們所想、所說、所做的事應事先捫心自問:
“Of the things we think, say or do:

1. 是否一切屬於真實?
1. Is it the TRUTH?

2. 是否各方得到公平?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3. 能否促進親善友誼?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4. 能否兼顧彼此利益?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
